Video Summary
Stop wasting time fighting with old decoy rigging methods in the slough! This video will show you how to rig up some modular Keel Grabbers, allowing you to quickly change out your line if you need to hunt in different depths. You'll also avoid the mess and extra wear of decoy anchor straps wrapped around your decoy's head!
Keel Grabber Weights
"Keel Grabber" Decoy weights are L shaped lead weights, usually four to six ounces, that utilize a short bungie strap to secure onto the keel of your decoy.
You'll find this method beneficial over the traditional lead strap weights, you wont need to try and bend the weight around the keel, or worse yet wrap it around the head of the decoy to stop it from slipping off.
You Said Modular?
Most waterfowl hunters can get away with a single length system for the few sloughs they hunt. If you're like me, you'll find it very beneficial having a system where you can swap out different length decoy cords depending on the depth of the slough you're hunting. By adding a size #12 snap & barrel swivel, you can do just that. I usually keep half a dozen spare cords in the boat with some extra length, just in case you're hunting ducks in a deeper slough - you don't have to risk watching your decoys float away.
