I bought a pattern master for a benelli

tried it on these guns

vincci

sbeII

cordoba

supersport

M2

xtreama 2

another xtrema 2

used this shotgun shell with it

winchester xperts 1400fps 3'' #2

hevishot duck #2

the factory chokes pattered WAY better every time

all I did was waste 3 boxes of shotgun shells and $90

I sent it to patternmaster after a phone call they sent me a new one

all I can say is fool me once, then you can probably fool me again.

Yes, I had some friends talk me into an aftermarket choke tube after one of my friends started shooting Black Cloud, and at 20 yds, the wad was penetrating the target and the shot payload had not deployed.

I went the way of a Carlson's Black Cloud tube, cost half as much as the Patternmaster, and seems to work OK.  I obtained the "Mid Range" flavor.

I bought a patternmaster for my 870.  after a month of shooting, it swelled up and I had to use a vice grips to finally pull it out.  Thank goodness it did not hurt the threads.  I find that a 3" #2 or #3 pattern best with a remington full choke.

Same thing with my 870, the factory choke patterns so well I haven't seen the need to venture into aftermarket. Was thinking about a Carlson's if I ever make it out for a spring snow goose season in the dakotas though :)

the reason I bought mine was because everyone says that they pattern better.  I have now learned that everyone is too proud to admit that they are junk

Just like everyone buying black cloud because it drops ducks like rain from 80 yards away :).

How'd the hevi shot compare to the xperts when you were pattern testing? Been using xperts since I could remember, they're cheap and pattern well for me.. no sense in dropping $25 on a box of shells if you dont have to.

can't remember for sure but I think @35yards with xperts 3'' #2 ~45-50 pellets hit hevishot 3'' #2 ~60-65

the hevishot pattern was a lot more uniform more bb's on target and it hit a lot harder than the xperts.

I agree not worth the money but I will buy a box or two when they are on sale just for fun and they are Oregon made and I live in Oregon....

A good way to get them closer than 80 yards is to stop wearing blaze orange in the blind! Cabelas sells that stuff that says all season wear meaning all deer season. LOL

Im one of those guys that loves Black Cloud. I dont think its worth it to spend the extra for ducks. But I have noticed the difference on the Giants. I have been thinking about trying a kicks BC choke. Anyone ever tried one of the kicks chokes??

I agree, Black clouds are nice, but if you are shooting the birds at 80 yrds only 2 thing could have happened. 1.) you missed them over the dekes. 2.) you are wearing blaze orange and you are sniping the birds at 80+ yrds.  LOL.

Pattern master makes a special choke for black cloud.  I have used a patternmaster choke for about 5 years.  You don't really notice the difference a ton at shots under 30 yards.  You notice the difference on shots from about 40-70 yards.  Specifically the fact that you kill birds at that distance as opposed to sailing them with a factory choke or just missing them all together.  I'm usually the last person to shoot, so I'm usually cleaning up birds for clients or getting birds sneaking out the backdoor.  It is not junk.  Try patterning your gun at 40-60 yards with it vs your factory choke you'll notice a big difference.

I agree with MAXXEDOUT that the pattern master works wonder in the 40-50 yrd ranges. I have a long range patternmaster in all of my guns 10ga or 12ga. At closer ranges factory work fine. but i shoot everything with mine trap skeet etc. to stay consistent

My uncle first bought a patternmaster for his vinci but he said it was garbage, switched to Drake Dropper Chokes and he will never change, loves it.

X2, not a decoying choke but for knocking them down outside the norm is a great feeling. I can say that ive shot a snow that wouldnt leave the spread for about an hour just circling at 70-80 dead as a door nail with my SBE2 with Pattermaster!
