With Illinois youth season less than a week away, me and my partner started digging out some of our decoys for a permanent blind that we hunt on a city lake, when we discovered that over 100 of our weights had been stolen. Being on a big lake with deep water we run 3 or 4 lb lead weights that we made using muffin pans as a mold. We took the decoys out the day before our Southern Zone opened last year because we would be hunting another spot the rest of the year with a different spread. We put them in the barn where we have stored them for several years now & when we returned this year, they were gone. They walked right into the barn and cut them off where they laid. Thats 300-400 lbs of lead that was stolen & of course now we are scraping for enough weights for our spread. I absolutely hate thieves & cant think of a more worthless type of human being on earth. A lot time was put into making all those weights & for someone to steal them, for scrap I suppose, is sickening. The gall of some folks!

Sorry to hear that imboray, can't believe someone would go so low as to steal another person's decoy weights.
Whenever something like that happens around here, there's usually drugs involved (meth). They'll take whatever they can that has any sort of scrap value, catalytic converters being the most popular. FowlNation - Calling all Waterfowlers |

Sorry to hear that. I hate cowards like that also. Last week we had a neighbor call while we were combining to tell us our cows were out in one of our pastures. We went to check the fence and it wasnt hot. So we went to turn the 2 fencers off so that we could go and find the short out. But when we went to the fencers, they were gone. Someone stole both of them. 2x $300=$600 worth of fencers. Only good name for a theif that I can think of is a COWARD. FowlNation ProStaff / HEVI-SHOT Prostaff |

That's as bad as rustling, and that's still a hanging offense. That just plain pisses a guy off when people steal stuff. Shawn is probably right something to do with drugs. |

Yah we have alot of thieves around here to. Alot of peoples hunting cabins get broken into and they strip any copper (wiring, propane lines, etc.) they can get their grubby little hands on. |

Sorry to hear about the stolen gear. It's pretty ridiculous that people do crap like this. Like Shawn said, in our neck of the woods when something like that happens, the majority of the time it has to do with getting money for meth. One of my friends had bought a house a few years back and was working a construction site something like 2 hours away from home so he would just stay down there during the week and come home on the weekends...well, the crooks realized he was never home during the week and broke in and ripped out all of the copper tubing. Hadn't even been in the house a year. FowlNation - Become part of the nation and help it grow |
