I've been using the Duck Commander calls for duck hunting for quite some time now and they work great for me. They're not acrylics and they definitely aren't pretty but they blow easy, sound great, are inexpensive, and most importantly, they help me kill birds. _x000D_ _x000D_ As far as goose calls go, I'm looking at getting a nice acrylic call sometime in the near future but am not totally set on what to get. I'm thinking I might get something from the Tim Grounds Championship Calls line. FowlNation - Become part of the nation and help it grow |

Get a bit more specific as to what you want... goose or duck... how much your thinking of spending. If you had to grade your self as a caller what would you say(A,B,C...). have you ever blown a short read goose call._x000D_ _x000D_ In todays call world there are so many different calls your just better off getting to a store finding something you like and can work into and trying to get a good deal on it. these forums are great places to pick up dang good calls for bottom dollar prices sometimes. |

I like Big Guys Best calls but have also come across a local Missouri call maker named David Welsh from Kirksville, MO that makes a great call for hunting the marshes of South Central Missouri. Of course the Duck Commander's Green Weenie is always at hand (mallard drake call) for when they are just too call shy. I also use Kelly Belz's sprig whistle too (www.kellyskawls.com). |

I recently got a Zink PH-2 that was $125.00 new. I love the call because it is good for close in hunting and its not too loud. I like to get that sound of a lonely hen quietly waiting for a drake to fly by Taylor S. Fowl Play Game Calls and Fowlnation Pro Staff |

Buck Gardner Double Nasty 2, Buck Gardner SBT Spit Tech Diamondwood w/acrylic insert single and a half reed, RNT Quackhead J Frame single reed, Primos Timber Wench, Primos Original Wench. Surprisingly, those cheap Wenches get the job done. I find myself using those most often. |

I really like the Acrylic Money Maker from Zink for goose hunting and I like the Acrylic Deadly Black Widow from Southern Game Calls for duck hunting. Not that it matters but both calls are great for field hunting and for contest calling. Both are made by Champion callers. FowlNation ProStaff / HEVI-SHOT Prostaff |

The Tru Edge G-Spot is a great call if you don't like to use a lot of air. Nice and raspy you can get plenty of volume out of it with very little effort or get really soft and nasty if you want. Check it out. |

I used to have a Foiles Meat Grinder and Showtime for geese. However, due to Mr. Foiles recently running afoul of the law both here and in Canada, those calls are gone, and I'm trying Real Calls, made by Don Barden of Marion, IL. They'll be my "go to" calls now. "If it flies it dies, and if it lands, it gets the gourmet shot" |

I am for any Buck Gardner call my self, and P.S. Olt D-2 keyhole also. You can get the D-2 duck call from DJ Calls (DJ Illinois River Vally Calls) for around $55.00. DJ calls makes the Rilly Key Hole duck call. They use the Very molds Olts used and all the other equipment they used on the D-2 calls when they worked for Olts. |

For mallards, I use a Haydels DRS-88 DOUBLE REED CAJUN SQUEAL,http://www.haydels.com/sounds/DRS-88.mp3, RF-03 Dirty Rice Mallard Call, http://www.haydels.com/sounds/RF-03.mp3, and the BB-10 “Big Blue” Blue-winged Teal, http://www.haydels.com/sounds/BT-85.mp3, which has great sound quality and the volume needed is teal hunting situations. All a easy on the wallet too.
For geese, I use Haydels B-81 Blue & Snow Goose, http://www.haydels.com/sounds/B-81.mp3, and a cajun hand turned wooden snow goose call. Can't remember the name of the guy that made it. Sounds great though.
All the Haydels are less than $25 before tax and/or shipping.
The hand turned wood goose call is on loan to me. Lance Lincecum FowlNation Pro Staff Call me AT&T, Cuz I'll reach out and touch 'em. |

big guys best for ducks, there calls work and are easy to blow. as for geese, i really like my glynn scobey, however since his passing earlier this year i haven't been able to find anywhere that has them, but if you can it is an amazing call that is more realistic than any other. the other call i like is made by get em locked up i can't think of the name of the call, it's the only one they have on there site that is green and white.

I have a foiles timber rattler that I love. Really easy to blow with good sound. Had a straight meat that was great for wide open water but hard to use inside of 40 yards. Let me know if anyone finds that one floating down the Mississippi?
Double nasty is a throaty old bird call that is more affordable. |
