Lots of good recommendations in this thread:
There was another from a few months back but I haven't come across it yet.
What kind of work do you plan on doing with your dog? Upland/waterfowl etc will somewhat dictate what you should be looking at, but most of the units in the $180-250 are going to be pretty comparable and all work well. With that said, I couldn't be happier with my Tri-Tronics G3 sport basic. FowlNation - Calling all Waterfowlers |

I love Tritronics. I use a G3 Flyway EXP. I have used Sport Dog but didnt have any luck with them. I blame myself for buying the cheapest one they sell. I am sure there bigger models are good. What are you looking to spend and what are you going to use it for and also...how many dogs are you going to be hunting over??? FowlNation ProStaff / HEVI-SHOT Prostaff |

Love the collar! it is a great training tool! Pup is coming along great! Took him dove hunting on our opening weekend and fetched 14 out of the 17...not too shabby for being out for the first time. He's still got alot of pup in him but im hoping he'll have most of it grown out of him before season comes around in november. But can't complain....only 6 1/2 months old |

hes getting there slowly but surely When I trained my pup, who is now almost 13, I remember him learning very quickly at the beginning and then the rate at which he learned started to throttle back. This made sense to me because as you move forward the skills you begin to target are more advanced. As long as you can keep the general trend of learning on the positive side, you're doing good.
